Having long wanted to study makeup artistry, it was only when I discovered Joanna Blair's Makeup School I realised I had finally found the perfect course! Joanna is a highly trained professional and a skilled (and patient!) teacher with an obvious passion for makeup. She brings with her a wealth of experience in bridal and evening makeup, as well as theatre, period, and paramedical makeup. Her class sizes are small, allowing one-on-one time with each student. Unlike most schools, she is not tied to one particular brand of product or brush, but uses her knowledge and experience to select the best products and brushes on the market. 

The courses include discussions around setting up a business, and culminate in a professional photo shoot. The support does not end at the conclusion of the courses, Joanna instead making herself available for ongoing assistance. 

I have completed both the Beginners and the Advanced courses and have thoroughly enjoyed both. The standard was so high, a fellow student and I were able to do the makeup for a series of video commercials - straight out of the Beginners course!

The whole experience was an absolute pleasure. I cannot recommend the school highly enough!

Jo's course has helped me fulfil my passion to do makeup. Her teaching and technique was easy to understand and very practical - ones that I apply directly to my makeup career. She is always willing to provide feedback and suggestions. The course is fully provided for. We had access to quality makeup products and tools. During the course I gained enough confidence to take on makeup jobs for a wedding and even a commercial for a brand of Tequila - all this before the course was completed!

Jo provided me with great support during this time and I know I can call her anytime for advice. Thank you Jo for all your encouragement!

With my wedding fast approaching and my lack of knowledge on makeup application, I jumped onto the internet to try to find a makeup artist. When I came across Jo's page, I thought WOW!! - this woman is amazing!! I contacted her and although she was fully booked, she gave me names of other makeup artists who may be able to help and offered that I contact her for any further help, which was really lovely. At the bottom of her email was a link to "Learn Makeup". I clicked on it, and my life changed. Although I knew nothing about makeup, I knew that I had a passion to learn. I attended Jo's makeup course, did my own wedding makeup, and continued to do wedding makeup for other brides and bridesmaids from that point on!

As I had a 3 year old and a 10 month old baby at the time, I was pretty tired when I got to night class and sometimes didn't take all the information in, but Jo was so patient and would just re-explain things to me no matter how many times I asked, without a hint of annoyance. 

Jo is an amazing woman who has taught me so much and has helped me to realise that I can be a mum of two little girls and a makeup artist at the same time. My girls love to pretend to put makeup on at home (and on the odd occasion the little one has coloured her eyelids with texta). 

I highly recommend taking Jo's makeup course......she has a real knack for teaching and a warm, friendly personality and is ALWAYS there to help.
